I've been trying to trace any photographic information on William Gibson 7036, born in Melrose, who served 20 years in the HLI from the South African Campaign 1899 - 1902, then Army Reserve from 1906 to 1914, serving throughout WW1, finishing as a WO 2, being demobbed in 1920. I have a copy of some of his service records and his WW1 medal index card (but that doesn't tell me much other than that he entered into the western front theatre on 29/11/14.) He joined up at age 18 in 1899 in Hamilton and settled in Hawick as a baker from 1920.
